Use all this information to form an idea of how
you and I are likely to work together, and to judge the quality of my work.
I realize that if you were well versed in both
English and Spanish you would not be interested in my services, and, by
the same token, that you may not be in a position to judge my work.
To that end I encourage you to contact my former clients and to present
my work to someone whose judgment you trust.
Before sharing the information, allow me the temerity of presenting my portrait (taken Fall of '98).
Please stay in touch by any of the means you prefer ... I'd love to hear from you.

Dear XXXX - Last year, I worked with Mr. Alain Gelbman to provide the translation of the AmeriCorps Publicity Release Form. His services are outstanding and I would highly recommend him for future translation needs. He is prompt, his prices are extremely fair, and it is very easy to communicate with him.
I recently worked with him to have him translate my welcome letter to parents - 3-4 pages in length with very technical terms, and I was extraordinarily pleased with the results.
----- Original Message -----
Kelli and I have worked together since 2001. Her enthusiasm alone led her to send me this letter of appreciation. The types of documents we've dealt with range from training materials to administrative procedures.

Thank you so much Alain. We have had our bilingual Personnel Generalist review the translation your provided and as always, your work is outstanding (even though I cannot read/speak Spanish) you make me wish I could. You know we will call upon your expertise again in the future.
Best Regards, Kelli Garcia
This note came out of the blue. I had not known Ms. Anllo before she contacted me with this (unsolicited) feedback. She is referring to the translation I performed for the Alaska Judicial Council. They are the same documents I mention below on this same page:

This letter is pretty much self explanatory. So far I've helped Mr. Doug Morgan by translating the installation and the user's manuals to the dishwashers destined for the Spanish speaking market.

I have been a technical writer/communicator for nearly 20
years. During
that time, I have outsourced to numerous translation services, most of them
companies that employ people who are either unfamiliar with or only
nominally acquainted with the subject matter to be translated. The result is
I usually end up fielding complaints from native speakers who find
misspellings, ambiguities, and out-right mis-translations. The money wasted
on such poor work is bad enough, but the ensuing image problem is far worse.
For the past two years, I have been outsourcing my considerable volume
of translation work to Mr. Alain Gelbman. During those two years, I have
received not a single complaint about his translations (when it comes to
translations, no news really is good news). I attribute this success to Mr.
Gelbman's meticulous attention to detail, as he is very careful obtain a
thorough understanding of subject matter and source material. One might
expect such research to put a strain on a timeline, but Mr. Gelbman's
translations have always reached my desk well within schedule. Mr. Gelbman
has on many occasions even served as my extra pair of eyes, finding mistakes
and ambiguities in source material that I've provided him. Simply put, my
work product is better because of Alain Gelbman.
Hiring a translation service is a matter of trust and confidence.
Though Mr. Gelbman's rates are highly competitive with other translation
services, the confidence I have in his work is something upon which I can't
put a price. I know that when I send work to Mr. Gelbman, I will get a
superior translation in return.
Put your trust and confidence for translation service in Alain Gelbman
- your professional image deserves it.
Sincerely,
Douglas A. Morgan

Dear Alain:
I am writing to thank you for the excellent work you completed on my
consulting project in Mexico City. My customer complimented me on
the excellent translation of CCMA'S written material from English to Spanish.
The Director mentioned that the material was so clear and comprehensive
that it was hard to believe it had been translated.
During the project I felt that we had developed a strong partnership
and that you had my customer's best interest at heart. You worked
diligently to understand not only the words but the message that I was
attempting to convey. It was a pleasure working with you during the
five month project.
Please feel free to use my name as a reference to any potential clients.
Yours truly,

Alain, you did a great job and provided very quick turnaround.
I was
able to run your translations by a professor of Spanish at Middlebury
College who has 13 years of technical translation experience.
She was
impressed and said that she could not have done a better job herself.
Thanks so much.

The Oregon Department of Education employs a number of Spanish-speaking people for whom English is a challenge. Representing the Department, Ms. Kathryn Wells Murdock asked for my assistance with several employment issues involving Latino employees with limited proficiency in English. In one instance we set up a three-way conference telephone call that linked Ms. Wells Murdock, the employee and myself as we conducted a bilingual interview by telephone, for which I supplied the interpretation.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to recommend to you Alain Gelbman for translation.
Recently I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Gelbman who translated some administrative orders which I had written as a hearings officer for the Department of Education.
Mr. Gelbman's work was very professional. Because accuracy is critical in a legal document, my standards were high, and Mr. Gelbman exceeded my expectations. The formatting was exact and he took the time to make suggestions for changes in particular phrases to make the order more understandable to a native Spanish speaker. Yet he still completed the work before the expected date. The price was very competitive because Mr. Gelbman has such skill that he can complete the work rapidly without sacrificing quality.
I am sure you would be extremely satisfied with his work and find it a pleasure to work with such a conscientious, competent person. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me.

To Whom It May Concern:
Alain Gelbman has served as a resource for Spanish speaking families served by Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education through the Linn-Benton-Lincoln Education Service District. He has provided excellent written interpretations of reports and other documents, as required, for our Spanish speaking families for the past four years.
His response time to requests for documents has been prompt. The documents he has provided have been neatly prepared and according to specifications we have given him. Alain has taken the time to set up required forms on his computer in order that they match the ODE forms as closely as possible.
We certainly would recommend his services to anyone. His literacy in the Spanish language is excellent.
